Have you ever wanted to share/email a copy of a project that is stored in project server, solicit changes and then synchronise these changes back with the online version?
Here’s how:
- Open the file you wish to share from the server.
- On the File tab, click Save & Send.
- On the right, click Save Project as File.
- Click Save for Sharing.
Note: The Save for Sharing command is available only if the project has been saved to Project Server.
Note: Once you have saved the file for sharing, the file is checked out and cannot be edited even by the owner, until the below process has been completed.
- Click Save As and save a copy of the file to a local drive.
- Share/Email the file out for review
- To syncronise the changes back, Open MS Project and connect to the same server that the file was initially created from.
- Open the file and select Save As.
- Select the name of the original project from which the shared file was created (if you have keep the name the same it will be automatically selected).
- Click Save. The shared file will now be synchronized with the original project.
Note: Once you have saved the file for sharing, the file is checked out and cannot be edited even by the owner, until the above process has been completed.
