Microsoft SharePoint

Microsoft SharePoint is a content management system with integrated search functionality, allowing users to work and collaborate together through a web-based workspace.  A project workspace is automatically created for each project by Project Server for project management collaboration and to store project artefacts like Risks, Issues, Documents and Change Requests.

Project Server 2010 is built on top of SharePoint Server 2010, bringing together the powerful business collaboration platform offered by SharePoint with the structured execution capabilities provided by Project Server. The combination of Project Server 2010 and SharePoint Server 2010 delivers work management solutions that include:

  • a business intelligence platform to support the creation of reports and powerful dashboards
  • the ability to control document review and approval through workflow
  • the enterprise search function making it easy to find people and effectively mine project data (resources, tasks, documents, etc.)
  • the ability to connect teams and enhance communication with wikis, blogs, discussion forums and my sites use.
