Project Time and Schedule

Managing a project to completion is a complex, multifaceted task that includes smart planning, deft execution, and ongoing management and progress tracking.  EPM Partners configures and when necessary customises Microsoft Project Server to create a powerful tool for scheduling, tracking, and updating projects - while managing scope and delivering on time.

EPM Partners can help you plan projects using a top-down method where decision makers and stakeholders have selected and approved a set of projects.  Project managers are responsible for scheduling the specific work items in the project, but during initial planning, they may start by sketching out a set of high-level phases and key milestones based on business needs and delivery timeframe.  At this point, the project manager may not have complete information on all work items and the amount of time required for each.

EPM Partners can also help you plan projects using a bottom-up approach where detailed planning and more accurate estimates are required.  This kind of approach is usually taken before formal project approval where a fair amount of analysis is going to be undertaken by business analysts and/or project managers.

EPM Partners will use Microsoft Project Server to:

  • Support project planning processes (and enforce them as required)
  • Define and set up project plans templates (i.e. work breakdown structure (WBS) templates)
  • Set up baselines process and polices
  • Support for the process of tracking actuals and enforce it as required
  • Support or introduce earned value analyses
