Connect Query String Web Part to SSRS Report Viewer Web Part

Posted By Posted by: EPM Partners on April 23, 2013

Problem

Displaying a SSRS report on a project server PDP feeding the required fields to generate the report e.g. Project UID.

Resolution

The report will contain a parameter that accepts a project uid. The SSRS report viewer web part is added to the respective PDP and use a query string (url) filter web part to pass the projects project uid from the url to the SSRS report viewer web part. Follow the steps below:

  1. Open the PDP, go to Site Actions > Edit Page > Add a Web Part
  2. Add the SSRS report viewer web part by going to SQL Server Reporting > SQL Server Reporting Services Report Viewer
  3. Configure the web part to display the respective report
  4. Add the Query String (URL) Filter web part by going to Filters > Query String (URL) Filter
  5. Set the Query String Parameter Name setting to projuid
  6. Configure the query string filter web part to send the parameter value to the report web part by clicking the dropdown arrow for the web part > Connections > Send Filter Values To > [Report web part]. See screenshot below
